Rick Cohan:

“What a joy it was to work with David and his crews.  They were attentive to what we were looking for and the constraints we had.  The materials and workmanship were top of the line.  They have raised the bar for what contractors should be doing.”

Backyard Deck Features We Offer

Elevated Decks

Enjoy additional storage or living space under your elevated deck.  These are ideal for walk-out basements or patios under the deck.

Low Maintenance Decking

Capped composite decking consists of a wood and plastic polymer core wrapped in vinyl sheathing.  This results in decking that is low-maintenance, durable, and customizable.

Maintenance Free Railing

Add the finishing aesthetics to your outdoor deck project with a variety of styles, colors, and options with the railing.

Trex Elevations Steel Frames

Trex Elevation Steel Framing is designed to provide a foundation for your deck that won’t rot, sag, or warp over time like treated lumber.

Dray (10)

Drainage Systems

Have a dry place under your deck with an optional drainage system.  This creates an ideal storage space under the deck.

Add unique beauty and style to your deck with curved spaces, railing, and designs.  Choose from subtle curves to full circles.

Frequently Asked Questions about Decks

  • Durability:
    • Weather Resistance: Composite decking is more resistant to weather extremes like humidity, intense sunlight, and heavy rain. It won't warp, crack, or splinter like wood.
    • Insect Resistance: Unlike wood, composite materials are not susceptible to termites and other wood-boring insects.
  • Low Maintenance:
    • No Need for Staining or Sealing: Composite decks don't require regular staining, sealing, or painting like wooden decks. A simple cleaning with soap and water usually suffices.
    • Mold and Mildew Resistance: Composite materials are less likely to develop mold and mildew, a significant issue in humid climates.
  • Longevity:
    • Longer Lifespan: Composite decking generally lasts longer than wood decking, often coming with warranties of 25 years or more.
  • Aesthetics:
    • Consistent Appearance: Composite decking maintains its color and appearance longer than wood, which can fade and weather over time.
    • Variety of Styles: Composite decking comes in a wide range of colors and finishes, often mimicking the look of natural wood.
  • Environmental Considerations:
    • Recycled Materials: Many composite decks are made from recycled plastics and wood fibers, making them a more environmentally friendly choice compared to new lumber.
  • Safety:
    • Slip Resistance: Composite materials can be designed to be more slip-resistant than wood, beneficial in South Carolina's wet conditions.
  • No Splinters: Composite decking doesn't splinter, making it safer for bare feet and pets.

Trex decking is a composite material made from up to 95% recycled materials, including reclaimed sawdust and recycled plastic film. This plastic comes from common household items like dry cleaner bags, newspaper bags, grocery bags, and plastic overwrap on packaging. The plastic improves the wood's resistance to water and insect damage. Trex also uses eco-friendly manufacturing processes.

  1. Clear the deck's surface and sweep away any large debris.
  2. Spray down with a hose to remove smaller debris and dirt.
  3. Gently scrub the surface with a soft-bristle brush and warm, soapy water.
  4. Rinse thoroughly using a hose.

Trex decking offers a 50-year warranty on their Transcend line, a 25-year warranty on Enhance Basics and Naturals, but they expect it to last a lifetime.

Trex is the best composite decking to install and we are a licensed Trex retailer.

We recommend using picture frame boards on deck and stair treads.

Depending on the scope of work and any necessary preparations, most composite decks can be built within 2-8 weeks.

The process is simple:

  1. Introductory phone call: Discuss your needs, wants, and desires.
  2. On-site design consultation (if we're a good fit): David, our licensed homeowner and owner, will discuss the scope of work, budget, and schedule.
  3. Formal proposal (if you choose to move forward): David will write up a proposal for your project.
  4. Contract and work schedule (upon acceptance): We will provide a contract and schedule for work to begin.

Once complete, you'll become a happy client with a beautiful outdoor living area!
